![]() ![]() Up to four players can participate in the game's multiplayer modes. The early tracks are relatively easy, but the challenge ramps up nicely, making later races pleasantly difficult. Additional tracks are unlocked as you earn points for placing high in races. You can choose to embark on a career specializing in one area of the sport or select a broader career where you must participate in all areas. The Single Event, Career, and Arcade modes let you experience some or all of the facets of mountainbiking the game has to offer. ![]() ![]() There are a nice variety of modes that keep things fairly varied. Strong finishes, acrobatic tricks, and a dash of violence are required to win races, earn cash for bike upgrades, and keep your power-ups high. Though the goal of each race is to finish first, there are benefits to performing tricks and knocking down opponents. The analog and face buttons control the rider's movements and striking. The game's even control similarly rather than using the oft-copied Tony Hawk's Pro Skater system, Downhill Domination's tricks are pulled off by manipulating the shoulder buttons. Both are exaggerated downhill-racing games with a trick system and light combat thrown into the mix. It's Like SSX, but with Dirt and Elk and Lavaĭownhill Domination plays very similarly to EA Big's SSX games. If it weren't for its middling trick system, Downhill Domination would be among the finest action-sports games on the market. Whether you're an action-sports fan, an Incog devotee, or a gamer looking for a sick sense of speed, Downhill Domination delivers a superior experience with the quality we've come to expect from Incog. While this trio might not appeal to the same kinds of gamers, each is an enjoyable game. These are three radically different games from the same developer using (basically) the same engine. And now its showing us how exhilarating mountainbiking is with Downhill Domination. It reminded us how much fun rubber-suit monsters could be with War of the Monsters. Incog has delivered the definitive vehicular-combat game with its Twisted Metal titles. ![]()
